About Us

Santa Maria Shipowning & Trading Inc, was founded by A.P. “Stas” Margaronis. Margaronis is building the company as a Jones Act vessel operation. This means ships sailing between two U.S. ports must be U.S. built, U.S. manned and primarily owned by U.S. citizens.

Margaronis is advised by his cousin I.P. Margaronis, a retired shipowner based in London, who holds a PhD in material science from Cambridge University.

Margaronis is also advised by Corvus Energy, a Canadian battery supplier for hybrid battery ships. Corvus is helping design the engine for Santa Maria’s hybrid/battery ships.

Margaronis has organized a team of U.S. and European professionals to oversee vessel construction, operations, and marketing.
